Prophet or Conqueror

Filed under: Uncategorized — auronx @ 10:52 pm

As the Prophet was spreading God’s message, he came across many people who disagreed with him and not only persecuted him and his followers, but also tried to kill him. At first, he did not have any violence used against those who oposed him, even if they used violence against him and his followers. Later, however, he decided to amass an army as his means of spreading Islam. Now, in some instances, I could see how violence was needed, particuarly if it is to defend themselves from being killed. But, even with those few instances, the Prophet decided to use this army of believers to spread the message by force. My question: Was it wrong (in every meaning of the word) to to use violence and fear to force people to follow his message?

So I was looking back on the weeks blogs (since I missed my first assigned day for the week… oops) and I watched about five minutes of the clip posted from youtube with the skeleton-terrorist dude. I thought it was pretty funny. . . not “laugh-out-loud” funny, but definitely entertaining. I believe that humor truly is the best medicine; and perhaps it is the kind of medicine that Americans need in order to dismiss terrorism and ignore the “fear” it evokes throughout the nation. There’s nothing like making a joke out of a group/organization that’s purpose is to threaten our nation’s way of life. Ironic that the skeletal terrorist demands silence out of the audience; whereas the joke’s on him.

I too, was shocked by the age of Aisha. But I also believe that there must have been some sort of mistake. . . I don’t believe that a child could have been “with” Muhummad. Something must have been lost-in-translation. Also, I wanted to comment on the shift from passive resistance to active resistence; when Muhummad advised his followers to steel from the Qurash. If Muhummad was a promoter of peace; why didn’t he allow the caravans to pass through Medina? What do others think about this? Do you think it’s right to steel, even if it’s for the good of your people?
