We watched My Name is Khan in class and I found it to be a good movie. Seeing how there were ill relations between Hindus and Muslims was something that is very sad to see and also pertains to different conflicts between other religions today, such as the Jews and the Muslims. Throughout the movie there were visible instances of religious discrimination, including when Khan did not stay at the motel because of the owner’s views on Muslims and the death of Sameer.
Reading the article “Mercy: The Stamp of Creation” was very interesting. I especially found how the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) exemplified the notion of mercy very inspiring. No matter how ill the intention was of others, he always tried to go for the more peaceful route and took into account the well-being of others around him.
I was listening to an Islamic speaker and he was talking about how Islam is a religion that focuses on cleanliness. It is very interesting that something as simple as cleanliness can be embedded into religion. I consider myself a very organized individual and the speaker quoted the Prophet Muhammad to have said that there are sixty levels of faith, and that the lowest one is to clear something from the road of other peoples’ paths. Such a simple act, yet it can grant a person large rewards. I wonder why some Muslims fail to implement this concept into their lifestyles and why they fail to follow the teaching of the Prophet.
In responding to 2coolmeener, I agree that it is better to live life first then get married. For some reason Muslims think that marriage is something that they want to go through right after college. I think it would be better to have some time to do settle down first, financially and independently. There is no rush for marriage
