During class this past week, we dug into the three central beliefs of Islam. Beginning with the concept of the Islamic Paradigm, Muslims believe that there is no god, but God. The next important fact is that Muhammad is the messenger of God, which entails being a prophet with a set of scriptures. Lastly, in the Islamic faith, there is a day of judgment. This is the day that Muslims are held responsible for all of the choices that they made.
The article “One God, Many Names,” discusses the idea of a universal God that is called by several different names. Muslims are hesitant to refer to Allah is God because they believe that the word “Allah” holds all of the meaning of their religion. They also are accustomed to seeing Allah in the Qur’an and in their daily rituals and prayers.
Today, Al-Qaeda urged the prince of Saudi to drive non-Muslims out of the Arabian Peninsula. Qaeda believes that the non-Muslims may be a threat to the prince himself, as well as other Muslims. Along with this change, they are attempting to reform the Peninsula by eliminating manmade laws and instituting a strong government.
In response to ‘195theo’, it is outrageous that there is still so much hate in the world. Wearing headscarves is an important part of the Islamic faith, and its absurd that women are being kicked out of school due to their religion. It is my hope that people will begin to accept and embrace the differences in people.
