Islam students at LUC

This week we finished the movie My Name is Khan which showcased stereotypes of many different races and religions in classic hyperbole Bollywood fashion. The movie was very sad and the main character’s disability humanized him which created a connection between him and me. I have never heard of a soccer ball killing anyone before.

Not being a religious person I have never read accounts of a prophet before, but Muhammad seems like a great spiritual leader. It seems like his message is very genuine in the stories as he refuses to yield to dissenters of his message. If I were around then I would listen to what he has to say.

In recent news retired Lt. Gen. William Boynkin pulled out from an appearance for a speech at West Point due to public outcry. Known for his anti-war speeches, he frequently calls Islam a “totalitarian way of life” and questions the eligibility of Muslims for protection under the constitution (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/01/31/william-boykin-west-point-speech-muslims_n_1244968.html)

In response to snowmakesmehappy about Muslim students at Loyola sticking to their groups- I lived with two Indian fellows last school year and there was contrast. One kid mostly hung out with his Indian girlfriend and their Indian friends and the other one, though he hung out with them, would take strides to hang out with me and his other non-Indian friends. I think it depends on the person.
