In the previous class we mostly talked about the life and journey that Muhammad experienced.  The discussion was based off of the readings that we due this past Thursday.  I found it very interesting how so many aspects of Islam are very similar to many of the other religions such as Christianity and Judaism.

I thought the readings that were due were very long and very in-depth!  I thought that “Personal Piety” was very interesting and really showed how to relate to Muslims.  I noticed that there was much similarity to Christianity in that both Muslims and Christians respect their creator and do as much as they can to please their creator.

I just read an article in the New York Times thatFour Islamic militants, all British citizens, admitted involvement on Wednesday in a conspiracy inspired by Al Qaeda to place a bomb in the toilets of the London Stock Exchange, with the hope that the multistory building would catch fire. They said the men’s plans were discovered after undercover counterterrorism officers tailed them as they surveyed London tourist attractions and tracked their conversations through secret electronic monitoring devices planted in their homes, cars and computers.

In response to studentsrockaroundtheworld, that is a sad thing to hear that would be happening in this day and age.  I can’t see something like that being honorable in any way whatsoever.  I thought Islam was about mercy to all regardless of differences?  That doesn’t sound merciful to me at all.
