In class we discussed Muhammad’s biography. We went over various stories that are told and I found them very interesting. Compared to the readings, it was much easier to understand when we talked about it. It definitely cleared some things up. I also enjoyed learning a little Arabic, total curve ball.

Referring to the readings assigned for the week, I have found the both the Hadith reading and “Personal Pity” the most interesting. Especially Robert Gleave’s “Personal Pity” since it is discussed how Muslims are told to imitate the lifestyle of Prophet Muhammad in order to live a fulfilling life.

During class I thought a lot about what people find useful in Religion for both what we went over and what else I could think of. I came up with the idea of Hope. In the past reading we had I learned that those who surrounded Muhammad had hope and it is a strong reason why Islamic people believe in their religion as well.

In reply to therealgretchenweiners I was not aware of the artictle that you referred to in the New York Times. I find the story very interesting and kind of scary since they came close. Also, it is quite alarming that the technology used to track them was so effective and sneaky.
