This week we continued to talk about the life of Muhammad. We also had debates about what people thought of religion and whether killing someone in defense was okay or not. I really enjoyed listening to all of the different opinions. We also met a recruit from the soccer team that loves to play soccer and FIFA.
In the reading that was due this week I learned that the Quran is basically the book of law. Also I learned that the Sunna of the Prophet helps determine the way in which Muslims have interpreted the Quran. I find that interesting because Islam has been split into two different types of followers and based off of the Sunna is how different people believe.
I just read on article in the New York Times that says that Islamist militants in southern Yemen executed 3 men for giving help to the United States to carry out a drone attack. The United States has been carrying out drone attacks and at one time killed 12 people in one attack. Yemen’s government has lost control and Islamist militant groups have taken over control of many parts of the country.
In response to beatlesbeatlesbeatles: Wow, that is shocking. It’s sad that the world has come to this where the government has so much control over what he say, do, and research. I mean I’m glad that they’ve found these people and taken care of the problems, but to me it’s sad that this is what the world has come to.
