In class: we continued learning about Muhammad’s life and how he was able tonspread the religion of Islam by patience and the help of God. We learned that Muhammad had a lot of enemies but even with all the struggles, he was able to become successful. He became even more successful because he was also looked at as a merchant in Mecca and was respected even more. We also found out about how rumors were spread about his wife seeing her guard but Muhammad received a revelation from Allah not to accuse so he knew she was not lying.

Reading: were starting to get more in detail with the Hadith. We are finding out differences between Shi’ite Hadith and Sunni Hadith which are two different sects of Muslims. I think it’s important to read both Hadith to get a better understnding about the two types of of muslims.

Related to confusedbanana19: it is always nice to ask those who are Muslim, questions about their faith personally rather than reading about it because confusion may arouse. However, when you ask your friends, you may get biased answers because they might have different beliefs. People practice Christianity and Judaism in many different ways so it is the same with Islam but what is forbidden is forbidden and sinful. Drinking is forbidden but people still may drink even if they are Muslim just because they don’t practice it as strongly or the way they should be at least.

Anything: I went to the extra credit opportunity at the screening of Fordson the Movie. It was really nice to meet the director Rashid Ghazi I had never seen the movie before and it was nice to watch it with an introduction from the director himself. He talked about how the goal was to give a message across and it was to show how passionate the Arab American students were to their religion and along with their hobby: football. Rashid Ghazi mentioned that he had been planning to make such a documentary based movie for 6 years. I was amazed at that. Usually, people would spend that much time in order to make a lot of profit but he knew he wouldn’t make a profit out ofnthis movie.
