Last week in class we rapped up our class discussion by talking about Ginns and the Five Pillars of Islam. The Five Pillars include: The Shahadah, the Salat, the Zakat, Fasting, and the Hajj. These remain as important ideas throughout the lives of all Muslims. Although some Muslims may never take the Hajj or pilgrimage [...]

This week I watched the film, Inside Islam: What a billion Muslims really think. I found that this film was very interesting. The film was a documentary chronicling the largest mass Muslim poll every conducted by the Gallup polling company. Some of the statistics discussed in the movie were pretty shocking. But what stood out [...]

Today I was reading an article on Fox News, yes I know its Fox News, which described current political demonstrations in Yemen. Many Yemen citizens want those loyal to the former leader Ali Abdullah Saleh to step down hand over power to Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi, the new president of Yemen. Although this seems like [...]

I recently visited yahoo.com and stumbled across an article entitled, “Al Qaeda Cleric’s Call From Grave: Attack With Bio Weapons.” At first thought it was misprint but after reading the article I was shocked to hear his standpoint on why biochemical force should be used against a civilian population. In response to Uncategorized after reading your comment I was outraged and angered to hear about the murder that occurred in El Cajon, California. I cannot believe that people still commit these hate crimes. If I was an emigrant Muslim, I’m not sure how I would react. I would imagine that most Muslims would feel [...]

Last Thursday, we finished the movie Mooz-lum. We finally learned why Tariq was so distant from his Muslim upbringing and why he didn’t want to accept his faith. A teacher at his childhood school tragically beat him with a whip after he was caught trick-or-treating on Halloween. The movie concluded with Tariq bonding with other Muslim students [...]

In last weeks class we started watching the movie Mooz-lum, which depicted the struggles a young Muslim boy faced growing up in United States. Which made matters worse was that his father forced his beliefs upon the boy, Tariq. We also discussed the three main sects of Islam, the Sunni, Shia, and Ibaddi, and how they differ. [...]
