Milk or Wine

Posted on: September 23, 2010

While reading Omid Safi text, I came to a passage describing Muhammad choosing between wine and milk. This story has been showed in Christianity. Instead of picking wine, Muhammad chose milk. The Islam bans wine on earth because it can distort cognition and be fatal. Whereas, milk is a source of nourishment and can have multiple uses. This is a primordial path to Islam in which it is one of the keys to understanding Islam. The milk and wine displays a significant meaning in which two path are made and a person must choose by faith. In a sense, this choice can be made about anyone life as a rhetorical question.
